My Last Year of Life with My Fiancé follows Sophie, a young woman who has been cursed and now has only one year left to live. Hoping to spare him the pain, she tries to break off her engagement to Laurence. However, he refuses to leave her side and instead promises to spend the next year doing everything she wants—creating memories and cherishing their time together.
I won’t spoil the ending, but yes—it has a happy ending, and it’s incredibly heartwarming.
What held this oneshot back just a little for me was the time-skip. A lot of important events are quickly summarized during this gap, and I would’ve loved to see those moments play out in full. This is exactly why I wish this story could have been a short series—those missing years could have added more emotional depth and character development.
Despite that, this story is beautiful, gentle, and sweet—a lovely blend of romance and bittersweet fantasy.
