Review: Something is Killing the Children – 1st Arc

Something is Killing the Children is a dark, gripping horror series that quickly grabs your attention with its unique story and compelling characters. The first arc sets the stage for a complex and intriguing world that blends mystery, horror, and psychological thriller elements.

The first arc covers issues 1 through 15. The story is very interesting and stands out from many others I’ve read. It really drew me in, especially toward the climax and ending, which feature a lot of action and set up future arcs and potential story-lines.

I also liked how they showcase other artists’ illustrations in the cover gallery—it’s a nice touch to see different styles.

The story has a lot of potential, and I’m excited to read more. For this review, I’m only covering the first arc. I appreciate how the world is being built with multiple characters, various factions or houses with different principles and motivations, and several mysteries. It has so much depth that I think it could do well as a live-action show—if done right.

I read the physical editions, which are well made, but sometimes the formatting made reading tricky. The story switches between two-page spreads and single pages, and sometimes the page orientation shifts from vertical to horizontal, which made it a bit confusing to follow while reading.

I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror, psychological thrillers, or mysteries. It’s not particularly scary—unless you’re afraid of bugs—but it has that small-town vibe and does a great job setting up the world and universe of the series.
