VOFAN is a Taiwanese artist best known for his stunning illustrations in series like Monogatari. I’m a big fan of his work, so when I saw Colorful Dreams, I knew I had to check it out.
This artbook showcases a lot of VOFAN’s earlier illustrations, which was both nostalgic and fascinating. While I really enjoyed it, I would’ve loved to see more of his recent work included—like his social media posts, sketches, or newer cover illustrations, which are usually a staple in most modern artbooks.
Interestingly, Colorful Dreams almost feels like a children’s storybook, as it tells a loose narrative through its imagery. It’s a charming and unique approach, though it might not be what everyone expects from a traditional artbook.
The book itself is well-made for a paperback. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy, which made it even more special—and I’d absolutely jump at the chance to meet VOFAN again.
If you’re a fan of VOFAN or the series he’s worked on, I definitely recommend giving this artbook a look. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t feature artwork directly from those series—it stands more as a showcase of his personal and earlier creative journey.
