I Found a Female Knight in a Rice Field, in the Countryside They Think She’s My Wife is one of those series that feels like a warm breeze on a slow afternoon. With a blend of light fantasy, countryside slice-of-life, and wholesome comedy, it doesn’t try to be too dramatic — and that’s exactly what makes it so enjoyable.
The story begins when Jin Mita, a quiet farmer living in the countryside, discovers an unconscious woman in full knight armor in one of his rice fields. That woman turns out to be Seraphim Stadtfeld (or Sera, for short), a noble and slightly out-of-place female knight from another world. She’s serious, dignified, and clearly capable — but hilariously unfamiliar with modern life.
From there, the series settles into a cozy, slow-paced rhythm. You get funny scenes, heartfelt interactions, and charming rural life moments. Sera’s exaggerated reactions, goofy expressions, and attempts to adapt are both endearing and hilarious — she’s easily the standout character. I especially love how expressive she is — her faces alone often steal the scene.
What I appreciate most is how the story doesn’t rush. The pacing is intentionally slow in the beginning, allowing the relationship and setting to breathe. It feels refreshing. I also like how you can feel that the town is alive — there are characters who pop in and out naturally, not just during the main scenes.
There are plenty of unexpected laughs sprinkled throughout — funny in ways you don’t always see coming. The food also stands out; everything looks genuinely delicious, and it made me want to try recreating some of the dishes myself.
That said, while this is a good series, it does have a lot of small faults here and there. Nothing major, but enough that you’ll notice if you’re looking for a super polished or tightly plotted story. Still, its heart and charm carry it.
Unfortunately, the series has been on hiatus for about a year, which is disappointing — especially since it only covered the summer season so far. The last chapter released was Chapter 61, and it feels like there’s still so much more to explore. I’d love to see it continue into autumn, winter, and beyond. There’s a lot of potential left on the table, and I really hope it returns.
Highly recommended if you’re into slow-burn romance, funny character dynamics, or just want something relaxing with a side of comfort food.
